OUR HARLEM TUTORING PROGRAM: canTeens
Since 2007, Canteen magazine has helped middle-school students in Harlem master the literary and visual arts. How? With writing and art workshops taught by Canteen authors such as Gina Gionfriddo, Lorraine Adams, Rich Benjamin, and Porochista Khakpour, and artists such as Marina Mihaeko, Ramin Taliea, JJ Sulin, and Manjari Sharma.
At the end of each year, the students’ best work is published in canTeens, a professionally designed print journal sold in bookstores across the U.S. and Canada.
