SUBMISSION FEES
Canteen does not charge a reading fee for submissions. However, we were intrigued by a recent heated conversation among lit-magazine publishers, and we’d love to hear your feedback on the topic: www.canteenmag.com/pay_to_submit.

WORDS
Canteen is published twice a year. We accept original fiction, nonfiction, and poetry of up to 4,000 words. We are also interested in essays that relate to our Mission Statement by focusing on the creative process. All writing should be submitted in .doc or .pdf format—we will not accept .docx files. Because it often takes our small staff a while to respond to all of the work we receive, Canteen encourages simultaneous submissions.

IMAGES
We are interested in a variety of media, including photographs, drawings, paintings, sculpture, video stills, and digital art. Submissions should be sent as links, rather than files, though files can be uploaded if links aren’t available. If your work is accepted, you will need to provide high-resolution JPEGs (at least 2400×1800) for publication.

COMPENSATION
Canteen does not normally pay contributors, but we do offer our published contributors three advance copies of the issue in which their work appears.

CONTACT
If you have any questions about the submission process, please email info@canteenmag.com.
