MISSION STATEMENT
Canteen magazine admires what writers and artists do, and we want insight into how and why it’s done. To get that, we ask contributors to write the stories behind their creative endeavors—their habits, motivations, successes, failures, and unmarketable dreams. And we believe in making everything we do transparent—from our photo contests to our curatorial habits to Canteen‘s revealing essays, we directly involve our readers in all of our processes.
Canteen Arts Inc. (“CAI”), which publishes Canteen magazine, also furthers the creative spirit in New York City. Since 2007, CAI has run after-school educational programs in the literary and visual arts for at-risk middle school students. Click here for more information. CAI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
